About This Tool

This Network Analyzer provides information about your public internet connection and allows you to perform a simulated latency (ping) test to selected targets.

Features

  • Public IP Information: Displays your public IP address, estimated geographical location (city, region, country), and Internet Service Provider (ISP). This data is fetched from a third-party GeoIP service.
  • Simulated Ping Test: Measures the round-trip time (RTT) to various servers by sending small HTTP requests. This is not a true ICMP ping but can give a good indication of web request latency.
  • Network Type (Experimental): If your browser supports it, it may display your current network connection type (e.g., Wi-Fi, 4G) and estimated downlink speed via the Network Information API. Support for this is limited.

How Ping Simulation Works

Since browsers cannot send traditional ICMP ping requests (like the ping command in your terminal), this tool simulates it. It works by sending a small HTTP/HTTPS request to a target server and measuring the time it takes to receive a response. This measures the latency for web requests, which is often what matters for browsing, gaming, and streaming.

Accuracy: The displayed IP location is an estimate and may not always be precise. Ping times can be affected by many factors including your local network, ISP routing, and server load at the target. For critical measurements, use dedicated network diagnostic tools.
